Financial Express managing editor Sunil Jain is no more. After battling COVID-19 for several days, he finally breathed his last on 15 May. Sunil Jain, 58 years old, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on May 3 due to deteriorating health due to COVID-19 infection. Despite the doctors’ best efforts and better treatment, they could not be saved.
His sister Sandhya Jain, while narrating this sad news, wrote, “My brother Sunil Jain died due to complications due to COVID. He suffered a heart attack earlier in the day, but survived it. But finally at 8.30 pm, he suffered another heart attack, due to which he died. Doctors and medical staff of AIIMS made every effort on their behalf. I thank you for supporting us in this hour of grief. “
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter, paying tribute to Sunil Jain, “You left us too soon and Sunil Jain went away. I will miss the lack of your words and your deep understanding of your columns and on different issues. You have left behind a legacy of your inspirational work. Journalism has suffered a great loss due to your sad demise. My condolences are with his family and friends. om Shanti.” President Ram Nath Kovind and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have also paid tribute to Sunil Jain via Twitter.
Anant Goenka, executive director of Indian Express, wrote in his tweet, “Sunil Jain, managing editor of Financial Express, finally lost his battle against COVID. He was a friend who inspired us with his deep integrity and professional commitment. It was a matter of luck for me to introduce him, his enthusiasm, balanced vision and intelligence will always be remembered. Your express family will miss you. “
