Ulhasnagar : In comparison to the consumption of electricity, the economic condition of Mahavitaran is deteriorating due to non-payment of electricity bills by the electricity consumers on time. The Mahavitaran administration had set a target of recovery of the current bills for the month of November in the Konkan region, but the department did not do a remarkable job, so Prasad Reshme, Joint Managing Director of Konkan Regional Division, urged to expedite the recovery work and ensure minimum recovery. Strict instructions are given to achieve the objective.
The Chief Engineers of Kalyan, Bhandup, Ratnagiri, Nashik and Jalgaon divisions in Konkan Regional Division and also include Pen, Thane, Vashi, Kalyan One and Two, Vasai, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, Malegaon, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar is included. Reshme gave the above orders in a review meeting held with the Superintendent Engineer in the Kalyan Circle Office. He said that the recovery of Konkan Regional Division, which contributes more than 40 percent to the total revenue of Mahavitaran, is decreasing every month. Reshme further said that the employees and officers available in the department will have to achieve the set objective by expediting the recovery work.

Joint Managing Director (Administration) Reshme told in the meeting that in the month of November, Rs 3 thousand 107 crore was expected as the current electricity bill. But still 1 thousand 336 crore recovery has been reduced in the current bill. On the other hand, keeping in view the total outstanding and current electricity bills in Konkan Regional Division, Rs 5,734 crore is left for recovery of electricity bill except agricultural pump customers. On the other hand, agricultural pump customers were expected to recover Rs 1,672 crore including existing electricity bills from September 2020 and Rs 4,404 crore without 50 per cent concession under the Agriculture Policy-2020 scheme. However, only Rs 65 crore of the existing electricity bill and Rs 198 crore could be recovered under the concession scheme. In view of the dire situation of Mahavitaran, all the senior officers have been instructed to complete the work on time, while ordering to stop the power supply to the consumers immediately on the monthly supply disconnection list issued by the head office.
He also directed to increase the consumption of non-agriculture power, increase revenue by reducing power loss, reduce power leakage in urban areas, expedite the recovery of current and arrears from agricultural pump customers by taking advantage of the scheme.
