How and where to get FASTag: From February 15, toll will be taken at the toll plaza only through Fastag. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had extended the FASTAG deadline for all vehicles in India. The Ministry had earlier announced to make fastag compulsory for all vehicles from 1 January 2021. However, this was later extended. Fastag will be mandatory from February 15 to cross the toll plaza.
How does Fastag work?
Fastag is an initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and NHAI. It is an electronic toll collection technique. One is a radio frequency identification tag, which is mounted on the front glass of the vehicles. So that on passing through the toll plaza, the sensor installed there can read it. When the vehicle with the presence of Fastag passes through the toll plaza, the toll tax is automatically deducted from the prepaid or savings account associated with Fastag.
