Samudrapur (No.) Taking strict action on behalf of the Electricity Mahavitaran Company, the connections of the farmers’ agricultural pumps are being cut, in the situation arising out of this, the Rabi crop is getting spoiled, as a result, the angry farmers have started a movement against Mahavitaran, the Mahavitaran Office led by Farmers Organization and Swatantra Bharat Party. The farmers staged a three-hour agitation in front of Swabhapa under the guidance of State President Madhusudan Harne, a memorandum of demands on this matter was submitted to the Deputy Engineer.
Misleading the government by sending more bills
In order to recover the outstanding bills from the farmers, the Mahavitaran Company has started the process of disconnecting the power supply from the sub-centre by closing the depot, as a result of which the rabi crop growing in the fields is getting spoiled, they are not able to irrigate the crops on time. Farmers are facing financial crisis, in a way, Mahavitaran Company has violated the Food Security Act. According to the Electricity Act, electricity was not supplied under proper pressure. Action was taken without giving notice 15 days ago. The contempt of the order of the Mumbai High Court has thrown dust in the eyes of the farmer and the government by sending inflated bills for agricultural pumps since 2012.
The company should stop the action of disconnecting the connection soon
The police is not ready to register a case against the company. On the contrary, legal action is being taken against the farmers. Ulhas Kotmkar, Dr. Hemant Isankar, Tehsil President Sunil Hivse, Jeevan Gurnule, Keshav Bhole, Kisna Shende, Rumdev Thenge, Janardan Vairagade, Bhau Devde, Vijay Mahakalkar, Ravi Mahakalkar were present in large numbers.
