External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on India-China Relations: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has given a big statement about the relations between India and China. He has said that the relations between India and China are going through a very difficult phase at present, whereas during the 45 years from 1975 to 2020, the situation was not like this. In those 45 years, peace remained on the borders of both the countries and the armies did not suffer any loss. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said this at an international conference held in Munich, Germany.
Foreign Minister spoke at the Munich Security Conference
In a panel discussion during the Munich Security Conference 2022, the Indian External Affairs Minister said that China has spoiled the relations between the two countries by breaking the mutual agreement not to deploy forces on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He said that how India-China relations will remain, it will be decided by the situation on the borders of both the countries. He said that there is a problem between India and China on the LAC.
There was peace for 45 years, the army did not suffer: External Affairs Minister
The Indian Foreign Minister, in response to a question by expert Professor Lin Kuok, who was conducting the panel discussion, said, “Since 1975, there was peace for 45 years, there was stability in border management and there was no loss to the forces on the border. The situation worsened because China and us had an agreement not to assemble military forces on the border (the Line of Actual Control or LAC), which China broke. Now the direction of mutual relations will be decided by the condition of the border. it’s natural. Obviously, in such a situation, our relations with China are going through a very difficult period.
China’s actions cause concern to the international community
Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar has also said in Melbourne, Australia last week that China broke the written agreement not to assemble forces on the LAC in 2020, due to which the situation worsened. He also said that the actions of the Chinese government remain a valid cause of concern for the entire international community. He said in Melbourne that when a large country does not comply with written agreements, it is a matter of concern for the entire international community.
The relations between the two countries have deteriorated since the fierce confrontation between the two sides after the Chinese attack on Indian soldiers in Galvan Valley on 15 June 2020. The situation of tension between the armies of India and China in the areas adjacent to the border of Eastern Ladakh remains constant. Because of this, security forces and weapons have been deployed on a large scale from both sides in the Pangong Lake area.
