Vehicle Documents Validity Extension: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has increased the validity of vehicle documents due to Corona epidemic. The notification related to this was issued by the Ministry a few days ago and under it all the states and union territories have been asked to consider all fitness, permits (all types), licenses and vehicle registrations as valid till 30 June 2021. The Union Ministry said that this decision has been taken to stop the pace of infection of the corona virus. Under this, the validity of the documents Mentioned in Motor Vehilce Rules, 1988 and Central Motor Vehile Rules, 1989 will be extended. Earlier, due to Corona virus, last year, it was decided to increase the validity on 30 March 2020 and this is the fifth time since it has been decided to increase the validity of these documents. The ministry has also made it clear that this extension will be the last time.

Expired documents benefit after 1 February 2020
Under the new decision of the Union Ministry, only those whose validity documents expire after February 1, 2020, will get the validity extension. Prior to this, the decision of extension was taken for the fourth time in December 2020. In December 2020, under the extension decision, the validity of the vehicle documents was increased to 31 March 2021. According to the recent expansion, the vehicle documents that expire on or before 30 June will remain valid till 30 June 2021.
Some RTO Services Now Available Online
The Union Ministry has made it clear that no further extensions will be made in the validity of the vehicle documents and after that the vehicle owners will have to renew their lapsed documents as per the rules. The decision to increase the validity was taken for the first time to prevent the infection of corona virus. Apart from this, this decision was taken so that long lines and waiting time can be avoided and additional burden on Regional Transportation Offices (RTO) can be avoided. Apart from this, the government is also making some RTO services available online so that the vehicle documents can be validated on time.
