pombhurna, In Velwan village of Pombhurna tehsil, sale of illicit liquor is going on on a large scale for the last 6 months. Illegal liquor sellers are delivering home-delivered liquor. Hundreds of women of the village took out Elgar march at Pombhurna police station demanding to curb illegal liquor sale in Velwan village and take strict action against liquor vendors. After that the police station was handed over a memorandum of complaint against the concerned liquor seller and seller.
Illegal liquor is being sold on a large scale for the last 6 months. Velavan village has become a den of illegal liquor in Tehsil. There are queues at the house of illegal liquor seller since morning. People from nearby villages Ashta, Check Ashta, Sonapur, Check Futana, Mohala villages are reaching Velwan village to drink alcohol. Many times home-delivered liquor is being delivered over the phone.
Liquor vendors have started mini bar room in the house itself. Special type of service is being provided to drunkards like chakna, water, glass. Due to this the environment of villages and streets is getting polluted. Women and girls are facing different problems. There are disputes in the family of many and the peace of the house is being disturbed.
To stop the illegal sale of liquor in the village, hundreds of women of the village took out an Elgar march at the Pombhurna police station, taking a proposal from the village’s entire women’s savings group on behalf of the village union. Raised voice to stop illegal liquor sale in the village permanently. In this context, a memorandum of written complaint was submitted to the in-charge SHO Nilkanth Kukde.
Hundreds of women including Velwan Mahila Gram Sangh president Jija Lonare, Shobha Umak, Sangita Santoshwar, Kiran Lonare, Varsha Kulmethe, Lata Kavatwar, Vaishali Kulmethe, Kiran Padole, Venkatalakshmi Nushetti, Saraswati Jadhav were present in the delegation.
