Lucknow: With the first cabinet meeting of the Yogi government in the state, the election promises will start being implemented. In the very first meeting of the Council of Ministers of the State Government, some lucrative promises made to the public will be fulfilled. Soon after Holi, with the swearing-in of other cabinet ministers including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the new government of Uttar Pradesh will announce to fulfill some promises.
Out of this, along with the release of free ration being given to the poor of the state, giving two gas cylinders on Holi and Diwali will be included. The Food and Logistics Department of the state has also prepared a proposal to provide free gas cylinders. 3,100 crore will be spent annually on this scheme. Under the scheme, 1.67 crore families in the state will be given two gas cylinders in a free year. The said proposal will be approved in the very first meeting of the Yogi Council to be held after Holi. In the very first meeting of the Council of Ministers, a proposal to continue the scheme of free ration will also be made.

Free ration scheme can continue till Lok Sabha elections
It is believed that the Yogi government is planning to provide free ration to 15 crore people of the state till the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. However, it will be announced phase wise. The Yogi government had said before the assembly elections that the free ration distribution scheme would run till March. However, in view of the benefits of free ration distribution scheme in the assembly elections, the Yogi government has decided to continue this scheme till the Lok Sabha elections so that it can be taken advantage of in the Lok Sabha elections as well. The Food and Logistics Department has also sent the proposal of free ration distribution scheme to the government.
About 15 crore beneficiaries under the free ration scheme
Under the free grain distribution scheme, 35 kg of food grains, one liter of oil, one kg of gram and one kg of salt are given to the UP government Antyodaya card holders free of cost. This plan was the biggest contributor in taking the BJP on the path of victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. It is worth noting that after the Corona epidemic, when the means of income of the people stopped, the government started the scheme of free ration. There are about 15 crore beneficiaries in the state under the free ration distribution scheme. This plan was earlier made till November 2021, but it was extended till March 22 in view of the assembly elections.
