New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Assembly Elections Schedule Announced in five states. The five states in which elections are to be held include UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand (Uttarakhand), Goa and Manipur. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra has reached Vigyan Bhawan along with two other Election Commissioners and the press conference has started. The Chief Election Commissioner said that elections will be held for 690 assembly constituencies of 5 states.
Chandra said that in the midst of the Corona crisis, the Election Commission has worked on 3 goals. These goals are COVID safe elections, easy elections and greater voter participation. This time 18.34 crore voters will participate in the assembly elections. Out of which 8.55 crore are women voters. Thermal scanning, masks will be available at the booth. Along with this, women employees will be on duty at 1620 polling stations.
It is to be known that there are 403 Vidhan Sabha seats in UP. Uttarakhand has 70 assembly seats. While Punjab has 117, Manipur has 60, Goa has 40 assembly seats. The term of the assembly in UP is going to end on May 14, 2022. This is the reason why it is very important to form a new government before that. The last assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh were held in February-March 2017.

At the same time, the term of the Legislative Assembly in Uttarakhand is ending on 23 March. While the term of the Punjab Legislative Assembly ended on March 27. The term of the Legislative Assembly in Goa ends on March 15 and in Manipur on March 19. Now the model code of conduct has been implemented in five states. Simultaneously, the powers of the state governments have gone into the hands of the Election Commission.
