Ulhasnagar: Hyacinth vine was growing on a large scale in the water of Ulhas river, but from last year, a campaign to remove Jalkumbhi from water has been started under the guidance of District Magistrate. Experts say that due to this the water gets polluted. Thane District Magistrate Rajesh Narvekar visited Ulhas river to see the current status of hyacinth directly and aim for the promotion of Ulhas river.
The evidence of growing hyacinth has increased due to pollution in the Ulhas river flowing from Karjat, Badlapur, Ambernath, Kalyan, originating from the Sahyadri mountain range. Efforts have been started for the promotion of Ulhas river since last year, as well as a campaign to make the river water free from hyacinth is also being run under the guidance of District Magistrate Rajesh Narvekar.

After the visit, District Magistrate Rajesh Narvekar assured that he would soon free the Ulhas river from the drains with the help of all. Last year there was water pollution due to massive hyacinth in Ulhas river. A large-scale movement was organized in the river vessel itself by the ‘Mee Kalyankar’ social organization. On the said occasion last year Thane District Collector and Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde had promised to make the river pollution and hyacinth free. Seeing Ulhas river free from hyacinth, he expressed his solution.

Activists of Ulhas River Bachao Kriti Samiti, office bearers of Mi Kalyankar Social Organization and Sarpanch of Mharal Varap Kamba, members and local citizens were present. Who are continuously working on the pollution of Ulhas river. The Ulhas river seems to be flowing hyacinth-free as compared to last year, the biggest credit goes to the activists of Saguna Rural Foundation, through a documentary dedicated to them, the hyacinth-free campaign was showcased. Thane District Magistrate and Shekhar Bhadsavale answered questions from journalists. The people present expressed their views, the meeting was conducted by Anil Nivalkar and thanks were expressed by Anuradha Bhadsawale.
