Lucknow : Assembly elections are about to begin in Uttar Pradesh and the Excise Department of the state is alert in view of the sale and manufacture of illegal liquor during the elections. While the strictness of the Excise Department has created a stir among the officers and employees of the department posted in the districts, there is also fear among the people involved in this illegal business of liquor. In view of the election preparations, the Excise Commissioner has so far visited eleven divisions and understood the ground reality there and action has also been taken against the negligent ones.
In the last few months, action has been taken against many officers and inspectors by the Excise Commissioner due to their involvement in illegal liquor business or laxity in responsibility. One inspector has been suspended in Shamli, while departmental action was taken against two. Two inspectors were suspended in Noida due to this. While attaching the District Excise Officer of Sambhal to the headquarters, an inspector was suspended and just on 6 January, an FIR was registered against four shops in Meerut and Bulandshahr on charges of irregularities.
The department has launched a campaign
So far, to break the back of the illegal liquor business, the department has started a campaign under the direction of the Additional Chief Secretary and the instructions of the Commissioner. In which every day a large number of illegal materials used in the manufacture of liquor and spurious liquor are recovered and the process of action is going on in the relevant sections among the people involved in it. Apart from this, if the complaint is still received, then the ground reality is being seen by sending teams from other districts and divisions there. For example, after receiving the complaint of over rating in Shamli, the team of Meerut division was sent to check the reality and now the team of other district in Bulandshahr has caught the irregularity.

One person arrested in Lucknow
Along with this, in the capital Lucknow, UP STF arrested a person involved in illegal liquor business and busted his gang. Recently, the department was receiving complaints about over-rating of liquor from various districts and divisions and its responsibilities posted in the districts seemed to be unable to catch it. To deal with this, the Excise Commissioner decided to conduct a surprise inspection by sending the Assistant Commissioner of one division to another division, which gave very positive results. Recently, Excise Commissioner Santhil Pandian had sent Deputy Excise Commissioner Meerut for surprise inspection in Moradabad division, in which Deputy Excise Commissioner Meerut found irregularities of over rating in the sale of country, foreign liquor and Shamli Excise involved in the game of over rating. Departmental action was taken against the officers.
Excise department is being praised
In this sequence, Excise Commissioner Santhil Pandian sent a non-district team after receiving a complaint of over rating in Bulandshahr and irregularities were found in four shops, on which departmental action is being taken and departmental action will be taken by the Excise Inspector on the basis of his involvement. It is worth noting that since the last few months, the work of raiding by the Excise Department to break the back of illegal liquor business is going on uninterruptedly. And while the lahan and kilns prepared for making illicit liquor on a large scale were destroyed on the spot, action was taken after investigating the departmental involvement in it. Let us tell you that there has been an increase in the sale of liquor during the election and in the meantime an increase has been seen in the business of illicit liquor. In such a situation, this step taken by the department against illegal liquor business and mafia is commendable and by sending teams from one division and district to another division and district, monitoring the sale of liquor and efforts to break the back of illegal liquor business. Being appreciated. It is believed that with this strictness of the Excise Department, the sale of illicit liquor and other irregularities during elections can be controlled.
