- Work is closed for a year, ignoring the urban development department
Anjangaon Surji. In view of the increasing scope of the city divided into these two villages, Anjangaon and Surji, the work of urban upliftment plan of 6 crores approved by the city administration to the local municipality in the year 2017 has been stalled since last year. It is known that this work has been stopped due to lack of funds. According to experts, if the work is not completed before next summer, the city will face a major crisis of artificial water scarcity.
Work incomplete even after 3 years
With the efforts of former MLA Ramesh Bundele and former city president Kamalkant Ladole, work on this scheme approved in the year 2017 was started in the year 2018. This includes two large watercourses and an extended 15 km pipeline through the city. Initially, the old water tank of 11 lakh liters that supplied water to the city was demolished in the year 2018 in the local office premises of Mazipra here and
In its place, a new water hyacinth tank with a capacity of 25 lakh liters and a tank with a capacity of 6 lakh liters was started on the Majipra land near MIDC on Daryapur road. This construction was expected to be completed in a year and a half, but due to Corona, the work of these tanks could not be completed even after getting a longer period of six months. Today, after three years, only tanks have been built and in some areas about 20 percent work is left, including laying of pipelines.
There will be an outcry for water in summer
On taking information about this, it has come to know that the contractor has stopped the work due to non-receipt of balance amount from the Municipal Administration Department of the Municipality. Presently water is being supplied directly to the city from the Main Water Tank (MDR). Due to less capacity of this tank, the load of both the cities is on the same tank. Work is going on in winter due to less water requirement.
But it is certain that in summer there will be chaos for water. It is learned that the municipality has repeatedly sent proposals for this fund. But the city administration is ignoring it. Therefore, senior officers and officials need to pay attention to this.
Fund stopped due to changes at the government level
I tried to fund this balance till the end of my tenure. The MLAs have also been informed about this matter. But perhaps due to changes at the government level, there is a problem in getting the balance amount. But in view of the demand of water in summer every year, the work should be completed at the earliest. There is very little work left now. -Kamalkant Ladole, former city president
Funds will be available in the meeting to be held in the ministry
The planning work is almost complete. But the work has come to a standstill due to non-payment of outstanding bills of the contractor. But now the proposal of the fund is to be finalized in the meeting to be held in the ministry. – Prateek Watane, Engineer, Sanitation, Water Supply and Health, Municipal Council
lack of funds
After the start of the plan, the corona crisis came in an incomplete state. Due to which the work stopped. After this the contractor got an extension of six months. This work would have been completed, but due to paucity of funds, the work of undergrounding and connecting some pipes is yet to happen.- Vijay Shende, Sub Divisional Engineer, Majipra, Anjangaon Surji
