- Prohibition of government decision
Akola. Demanding that the youth should not be wasted with alcohol, the Liquor Liberation Movement organization staged a sit-in protest and prohibited the government’s decision to sell wine in grocery stores. A two-day dharna movement was organized by the Daru Mukti Andolan organization at Gandhi Bagh in Akola. Akola District Sarvodaya Mandal President Mahadev Bhuibhar was present as the chief guest on this occasion. Expressing his views, he said that students, youth power is the national power which is shaping the bright future of the country.
If the Maharashtra government decides to sell wine in kirana stores, the future of students and youth may be in jeopardy, due to which the government should stop its production and distribution. Gajanan Waghmare, District President of Bara Balutedar Sangh said that twelve sandy youths of Vidarbha should be stopped from intoxication, they should be given various skill training and set up factories here, the hands of youth should be given work by the government otherwise Bara Balutedar Sangh will move. He said that not alcohol, give them employment, they should not be wasted, they should be developed.
Liquor ban campaign will be implemented in every village
Vidarbha is the Karmabhoomi of Gadge Maharaj, the announcement of implementation of liquor ban campaign in each village was made on behalf of Mandal and Daru Mukti Andolan Organization. It was also decided to publicly honor the activists who did excellent work of liquor ban in the district. Convenor Bhai Rajinikanth accused the government of hatching a conspiracy to kill the youth of Vidarbha and widow the young girls by drinking liquor made in the factory of the Chinese emperor in western Maharashtra. He said that it seems that the state government has adopted the policy of desertification of Vidarbha, due to which the announcement to fight against it was made on this occasion.
Anna must fight to stop drinking
Vasant Kedar said that instead of going on a hunger strike against the government’s decision to sell liquor from grocery stores, Anna Hazare should fight to stop the production of poisonous liquor in factories in western Maharashtra. He said that, we will be with them, we and thousands of male and female activists in Maharashtra have started a fight to ban the sale of liquor. He further said that even after Anna retreats, we will continue this fight. Swapnil Mankar, Ganesh Bavaskar, Manish Rule, Ramesh Attarkar, Vijay Phatkar were involved in this picketing movement.
