Nashik: On Friday, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a large number of tourists, devotees and local people took a dip in the Ramkund. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, bathing at holy places like Ramkund is of great importance. For the last two to three days, people were coming to the city for this special occasion. All the lodges, hotels in the Ramkund complex have become full of tourists from outside.
From Friday morning itself, the crowd of devotees started gathering in Ramkund. Some devotees were camping here since night. The bathing and worship of the devotees started from five o’clock in the morning and continued till noon. During this, children, elderly, women and youth were seen full of enthusiasm. It is freezing cold in Nashik, but it did not have any effect in the devotees and especially the people who came here to take a dip of faith.

flouting of corona rules
During taking a dip of faith, Corona rules were flouted in Ramkund and its surrounding premises. Due to the large gathering of people for bathing, social distancing was not followed at all. Most of the people present and moving around the campus were not wearing masks. There was no one to stop them.
Police overhauled by barricading
The police had put up barricades at two places in the road leading to Ramkund, one near Malviya Chowk and one in Library Road. There vehicles were being stopped from going inside. But not a single policeman was deployed in Ramkund to ensure that the rules were followed. The citizens took full advantage of this. People were seen roaming here, talking among themselves and participating in worship without following the rules of masks and social distancing.
After all, how is section 144?
Nashik administration has imposed Section 144 in view of Corona in the city. In such a situation, the question arises whether Ramkund is out of section 144. After all, how are people being allowed to roam freely here? If Corona explodes from here, whose responsibility will it be? When Section 144 is in force across the city, has Ramkund been kept out of it?
less crowd than every year
In this regard, Ganga Godavari Purohit Sangh President Satish Shankar Shukla said that Makar Sankranti has a lot of significance. This festival is celebrated on the arrival of Sun in Capricorn. It is a day of health, unbroken good luck. Compared to every year, the crowd has reduced this year due to Corona.
