Pradhan asked to cut sales tax in opposition ruled states
The Center is facing constant opposition from the opposition on oil prices. Pradhan asked the Congress governments in Rajasthan and Maharashtra to cut sales tax to see if he was equally concerned about the burden on the common man. Asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s relentless attack on the Modi government, Pradhan said that Rahul Gandhi should answer why oil prices are high in Congress-ruled states like Punjab, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. If he is so worried about the poor man, then he should ask the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to reduce the tax because the price of oil in Mumbai is very high.
Pradhan, however, declined to comment on whether BJP-ruled states such as Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, where petrol prices have crossed the Rs 100 mark, would take the same step.
