Lucknow : After the inauguration and foundation stone laying before the election, now the brakes have been put on them. The work of development projects worth thousands of crores will be affected due to the model code of conduct implemented due to the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
If officials are to be believed, whether it is the work of Gorakhpur Light Metro or the houses of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to be built in different cities of the state or the colony of Housing Development Council in Ayodhya, all these work will now be started only after the elections. In many districts, the work of construction of rural houses will also be affected due to non-selection of the executive body. The work of running electric buses in many cities will also be postponed till the elections. After the implementation of the code of conduct, the meetings of the boards of development authorities in the state will also be postponed, then the new works to be done from the MP, MLA and councilor funds will also be put to a halt.

Will start only after assembly elections
If the work of houses being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will stop in many districts of the state, then the work of the proposed Green Corridor on the banks of Gomti in the capital Lucknow will be affected. Work on many other big projects including Gorakhpur Metro will now start only after the assembly elections. According to officials, due to the imposition of the model code of conduct, the work of development projects worth about Rs 4000 crore will be affected in the capital alone, including the work of Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Green Corridor, construction of Prime Minister’s residence and repair of socialist houses.
Project worth Rs 118 crore currently banned
According to the officials of Lucknow Development Authority, the proposed green corridor in the capital on the banks of river Gomti is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3000 crore. For this, along with the identification of the land, the layout was also prepared. Tenders were to be invited for this project this month but now it has been put on hold. Similarly, the Rs 118 crore project of Rashtra Prerna Sthal Memorial has also been put on hold for the time being. The construction of 4512 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana houses in the capital was to be done at a cost of Rs 270 crore, whose tender process had been started but the name of the construction agency was not decided yet. Now the work on this project will also be started after the elections. The repair work of Samajwadi Housing Scheme houses in Devpur Para of the capital has also been affected due to the election code of conduct.
