New Delhi. Colleges opened on Thursday after being closed for nearly two years due to Corona virus infection in the national capital. The University metro station, located near Delhi University, was crowded with students since morning and they looked eager to go to college.
Gajendra Mohan Thakur (26), a law student, said, “I am excited to go to the campus. The university remained closed for almost two years. Studying through online medium is not as effective as teaching in classrooms.” Along with this, hostels and canteens will also open from Thursday 17 February. College offices will also open with full attendance.
All the colleges affiliated to Delhi University were closed in March 2020 due to infection. Kalyani Harbola, a first-year student, says, “We are extremely excited about studying in student classrooms as it will provide us with many opportunities to determine our future.” On the Delhi University campus as well as issued by DDMA, MHA and UGC Libraries, laboratories and canteens of universities, colleges, departments, centers will also be opened from February 17, 2022, strictly following the COVID-19 guidelines.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, student bodies had protested demanding the reopening of schools. The decision to reopen educational institutions was taken after the cases of infection reduced in the national capital. On Wednesday, 766 new cases of infection were reported in Delhi and five people died due to the epidemic.
