In the upcoming fourth phase of Delhi Metro, there will be an automatic way to hire. It will be made keeping in mind the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) and passengers will also be able to move inside the station through mobile phones. Mangu Singh, MD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), has said this. He says that both the facilities can be started on the Airport Express line by the end of this year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the NCMC developed in the country in March 2019. Under this, people can pay various types of transportation charges including travel in metro and bus services across the country through a card. Singh said that the modern system in various countries including Seoul Metro has the facility of using automatic phone rental (AFC), use of mobile phones to go in and out of the gate.
According to DMRC Chief, “We are continuously working to improve our system through the best technology and other measures. In the fourth phase, the National Common Mobility Card will be used in the AFC system. The mobile phone will also act as a smart card and passengers will be able to use it to travel through the AFC gates in the fourth phase lines. ”
Technology is changing rapidly
Managing director of DMRC says that e-payment system and technology is undergoing rapid changes and any new technology can come till the completion of the fourth phase. But, we will have to work on this for some time and the facility of movement within the station through NCMC and mobile phones can be made available on the Airport Express line by the end of this year.
At present, passengers on the Airport Express line can make the movement from the AFC gate using the QR code on the mobile phone, which can be collected from the metro counter. But there is a plan to bring such a system in the future, in which passengers will generate a QR code on their own phone and will be able to use it through the AFC gate.
Cabinet approval was received in March 2019

According to the government, the cabinet has approved Mukundpur-Maujpur, RK Ashram-Janakpuri West and Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor.
