The 4G internet service, which has been closed for the last several months, is being resumed by the government in Jammu and Kashmir. Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal (Power and Information) informed that it has been decided to resume 4G Internet service throughout Jammu and Kashmir. At present, 2G service is running in Jammu and Kashmir. A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court for the restoration of 4G Internet service in the state.
Earlier, National Conference Party President Farooq Abdullah had demanded PM Narendra Modi’s resumption of 4G Internet service in January this year. He had said that in the absence of this service, people are facing many problems. Let us tell you that on August 5, 2019, the Parliament revoked Article 370 status from Jammu and Kashmir last year. Since then, Internet services were suspended in Kashmir, which has now been decided by the government.
4G mobile internet service has been restored in the state after a total of 550 days. On which former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah expressed happiness over the restoration of 4G service via tweet. Abdullah wrote in his tweet that 4G Mubarak. He further wrote that for the first time after August 2019, 4G mobile data service was restored in entire Jammu and Kashmir. better late than never.
A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court for the resumption of 4G services in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Section 370. The Special Committee constituted in the Supreme Court had said that the danger is still at the peak in Jammu and Kashmir. The restrictions related to the Internet are not hindering COVID and education. It is not possible to restore high-speed internet service in a situation that is present.

Many opposing parties had also targeted the central government for the 4G mobile internet service being shut down in the state, but now this move of the government is being said by politicians to be late.
