The US has withdrawn the extradition request against Zabir Moti for drug trafficking, money laundering and blackmail charges, paving the way for his release. Moti, a Pakistani citizen of 53 years, is also known as Jabir Motiwala and Jabir Siddiqui (Jabir Motiwala Extradition). He challenged the extradition order in the High Court of London and was awaiting the verdict when the US extradition request was withdrawn this week.
Used to report directly to Dawood
The US extradition request states that Moti used to report directly to underworld don Dawood, who is a declared terrorist and wanted in the 1993 bomb blast case in Mumbai (Jabir Motiwala US Extradition). Moti was lodged in Wandsworth Jail in south-west London since he was arrested in 2018. First, his extradition to the United States was approved by the Westminster Magistrate Court of Britain. After this, the decision of the High Court began to be awaited. But before the court’s decision came, the US withdrew its request.
Pakistan tried to save
Pakistani agencies also made a lot of efforts to save Moti. Zabir Moti was arrested by the Extradition Unit of Scotland Yard. After this, he was produced in the Magistrate Court. Where he is accused that he does money laundering and shares the money deposited from drugs on behalf of D Company. He is also accused of investing the black money of D Company abroad. In his defense, the lawyer of D Company had told the court that Moti is in depression and has tried suicide several times (Pakistan Dawood Ibrahim). However, if he had been extradited to America, then Pakistan and Dawood’s relationship would have come in front of the world.
