Cyclone Nivar Latest News: Storm havoc continues to wreak havoc, though it is now weakening. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to cyclonic storm prevention, landfall near Puducherry occurred around midnight tonight. Apart from this, heavy rains have started in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. IMD says that after crossing the coast near Puducherry, weakened slightly. The Tamil Nadu government has also informed that there have been reports of loss from some places in the state, but so far no one has lost their lives. There is no significant damage to crops. However, the danger is not completely averted and alerts are being issued in some areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to strong rains will continue till tomorrow in all areas including Chennai. In view of the dangers, fishermen have been advised not to go near the sea yet. According to IMD-Chennai deputy director general S. Balachandran, the storm is now in the land area and due to this, heavy rains and strong winds will occur. However, he says that in the next three hours it will weaken further to 65-75 kmph.

Most rain in Cuddalore
Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister Udayakumar said that about 2.5 lakh people have been transported to Cyclone Shelters. He said that after the passing of the storm, the entire situation will be reviewed and farmers will be given appropriate compensation. Talking about Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore has received the highest rainfall from 8:30 pm on Wednesday i.e. 25 November to 2:30 pm on Thursday i.e. 26 November. It rained 24.6 cm. Puducherry received 23.7 cm of rain. During this period, Nagapattinam received 6.3 cm, Karaikal 8.6 cm and Chennai 8.9 cm.
The administration is removing problems by removing fallen trees
According to preliminary estimates, 150 trees in Tamil Nadu were uprooted. However, the revenue, civic and police authorities did not remove them and cause problems. After crossing the coast, the rain stopped and thereafter strong winds started blowing. The roads are flooded at many places in the state.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanaswamy visited the Kanakchettikulam area near Kalapet a day ago to take stock of the preparations, where the landfall has taken place today. According to the Chief Minister, electricity supply will start within 12 hours. Apart from this, 80 places have been identified, where food and medicines will be made available.
