Nagpur. The crowd is disappearing from the railway station. People are avoiding traveling in trains due to fear of corona infection. On Sunday, only a few people were seen in the station premises. In the afternoon there was a completely deserted atmosphere.
The effect of ‘speed’ of corona infection is now visible in Orange City. Its biggest impact is visible at the railway station. For the last three-four days, the crowd of people at the station is decreasing continuously. People are traveling in trains only when there is an urgent need. The station premises are usually crowded in the morning, but this morning the crowd was missing. Some people were seen on platform number 1 and platform number 5, but there was silence on the remaining platforms.
Some passengers were seen when the Maharashtra Express train arrived, but after that from 12 noon to 1.30 pm, only a few passengers were seen in the station premises. The same condition was seen at the ticket counters as well. The usual crowd was not there today. Reservation counter also appeared empty. There were only a few people in the passenger rest rooms. The health department team has become active again at the entrance of the station. Earlier one or two employees were seen here, but today four employees were standing with full alertness. These people were also questioning the passengers about the COVID vaccination.
It is worth mentioning that the new year has started. Makar Sankranti was celebrated on 14 January. At present, school holidays are also going on. In such a situation, people make a program of roaming. On normal days, there is no place to set foot in the station premises during this time. But Corona has put brakes on people’s fun. People have canceled all programs for traveling or visiting relatives due to fear of corona infection. Better people are preferring to stay in homes than going anywhere. In view of the increasing patients of Corona, the state government has issued a new guide line, which is expected to increase strictly for implementation. In such a situation, the number of passengers coming to the station can be reduced even more.
GM’s tour also canceled
Central Railway GM Anil Kumar Lahoti’s visit to Nagpur has also been canceled due to corona infection. Earlier he was supposed to come here on 6th January. Preparations were going on in full swing for his visit, but in view of the increasing number of patients, this date was extended to 12 January. Now it has been postponed indefinitely.
