The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the law making body of cricket, has made changes in many rules related to this game. This includes changing the rule related to ‘Mankading’ and banning the use of saliva on the cricket ball forever. Also, in the event of a catch out, the entry of a new batsman at the batting end has been made mandatory, even if both the batsmen have crossed the crease at the time of taking runs.
The new rules will come into effect from the end of this year. Along with this, the bowler was given relief by changing the rule related to wide ball. Under this, if the batsman changes his position by shuffling or standing outside the crease, then the batsman will go wide according to the position and not the distance of the stump.
Fielders cannot change their positions incorrectly
The MCC made a rule regarding fielders, saying that if the fielders improperly change their position while bowling, then penalty runs will be awarded to the batting team.

Changed rules regarding ‘Mankading’
MCC has changed the rules regarding Munkding. Until now, Mankading was considered to be against the spirit of the game. Under this, the bowler can run out when the batsman standing on non-strike comes out of the crease. However, this rule was not yet in the list of rules related to run-out. MCC has now put Mkanding on the list of run-out rules. This means that it will no longer be seen as an unfair way of dismissing a batsman.
After the catch out, the new batsman will have to do the batting
The MCC said that the new batsmen will now have to land at the strike-end after the catch-out, even if both the batsmen have crossed each other in the process of taking runs.
Ban on the use of saliva on the ball
Bowlers are often seen applying saliva to the ball. This helps him to spin or swing the ball. However, now MCC has banned doing so forever. All these rules will be applicable from 1 October 2022.
