Covid-19 Vaccine India: Pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila has applied to India’s top drug regulator for restricted emergency approval of its three-dose COVID-19 vaccine ZyCov-D. If approved, it would be the first DNA vaccine available in the world. The company said on Thursday that it expects to produce 100 to 120 million doses of ZyCov-D. This would be enough to give three doses of the shot to four crore people.
66.6 percent found effective
More than 28 thousand participants participated in the human clinical trial of the last stage of the vaccine. So far 66.6 percent have been found to be primarily effective in this. She has been successful in reducing cases with symptoms of COVID-19. In those who have been vaccinated, there is a decrease of about 67 percent compared to those who have not been vaccinated.
The company is also assessing the possibility of arranging two doses of ZyCov-D. He said that its results regarding immunity have been found to be equal to the current three-dose system. According to him, even two doses of the vaccine are giving as good immunity response as the three-dose system. The company said that this will help reduce the duration of the entire course of vaccination, with which the safety of the vaccine can be maintained in the future.
However, the information received so far shows that if three doses are given, the vaccine can also prevent symptoms in the middle of COVID. No intermediate symptomatic case of COVID-19 has been reported after the third dose of Zydus Cadila, which shows that the disease is 100% effective. With this, according to the company’s interim analysis of its clinical trial results, two doses of ZyCov-D can prevent serious illness and even death.
