Covid-19 Vaccination: Amid the ongoing war against the Corona epidemic, a great hope has been raised towards protecting children from infection. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in a major decision, has approved the emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID Vaccine for children. This vaccine will be given to teenagers i.e. those aged 12-15 years. Vaccination of children between 12 and 15 years of age can start in the US this week. FDA acting commissioner Janet Woodcock called the move an important step in the fight against the Corona epidemic.
Moderna is also doing trial
Let me tell you that in addition to Pfizer, Moderna is also trialing for the vaccination of children and its results can also be revealed soon. The special thing is that the FDA has expressed confidence in the results of the two companies so far. Another US company NovaVax has a COVID-19 vaccine in its final stages and has also started a study on 12- to 17-year-olds.
Study done on 2000 people
Based on trials conducted on more than 2,000 American volunteers, the Food and Drug Administration stated that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and provides strong protection to teenagers between 12 and 15 years old. Pfizer and its German partner BioNotech have recently sought permission to vaccinate children in the European Union.
Vaccination of children of all ages is important for a return to normalcy. Most COVID-19 vaccines being applied worldwide are authorized for adult only. The Pfizer vaccine is being used in many countries for adolescents under the age of 16, and Canada has recently become the first country to vaccinate children 12 and older. According to media reports, in India, Cadila is also working on bringing the Corona vaccine for teens over 12 years of age.
