Even if you are traveling alone in your car in Delhi, it will be mandatory for you to wear a mask. During the hearing on the petition related to this, the Delhi High Court said that even if a person is travelling alone in his car, it will be compulsory to apply a mask. The High Court held that the mask acts as a protective shield to prevent infection of the coronavirus. The court described it as a public place even when travelling alone in a car. A few months ago in January 2021, the Union government’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court that no guidelines have been issued for wearing masks while driving.
Mask a protective shield
The guidelines issued for the prevention of coronavirus include wearing masks. Many states and union territories have also made a provision for penalty for not wearing masks. Although many people were challaned for not wearing masks when they were alone inside a car in Delhi, four petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court regarding this. On this issue, the Central Government filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court in January 2021, saying that it has not issued any guidelines for wearing masks in the car. However, today the Delhi High Court made clear the petitions challenging the challan for not wearing a mask in the car, that even if you are walking alone in the car, it is a public place. The High Court said that the mask acts as a protective shield to prevent infection of the coronavirus.
