Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray inaugurated the country’s largest facility, which was built in Dharavi. Ground plus two-storeyed public convenience center has provided bathing facility for more than 50 thousand residents. There is also RO filter water for drinking, laundry facilities for washing clothes. A 111 seater toilet has been built here. Gray water treatment plant within this facility and solar panels for electricity to the facility have been installed.
One of the advantages of this plant is that the water used here can be recycled and reused. This will save 90 lakh liters of fresh water annually. Aaditya Thackeray said that BMC is similarly constructing 10 more facilitation centers in Ghatkopar, Dharavi, Chembur, Bandra, Santacruz, Govandi in Mumbai. BMC has constructed 19 community toilets in Dharavi in the last 2 years which have 800 seats.

Hot water facility will also be available
A 111-seater toilet has been made in the facility set up in Dharavi. A bathroom has also been built here. Those using the facility will also get hot water facility. The public toilet has been built near Dharavi’s Udchan Kendra. It can be used by 5 thousand people of Dharavi’s Naik Nagar, Sangram Nagar, Shatabdi Nagar, etc. settlements even those who do not have such facility in Mumbai.
Agreement for 10 more facilitation centers
This facility has been built under Social Responsibility Initiative in association with M/s United Way Mumbai, M/s Hindustan Unilever and HSBC Sanstha. An agreement has been signed for 10 more such facilitation centers in Mumbai.

- ‘M East’ Department Gaikwad Nagar, Chembur
- ‘H East’ Dept. Davari Nagar, Santacruz (East)
- ‘H East’ Department Kherwadi Bandra (East)
- ‘H East’ Department Kuchikorve Nagar, Kalina Santacruz (East)
