Covid-19 Triple Mutant: Triple mutants of the corona virus have been identified in India. There have been some cases of triple mutants infected in Maharashtra, Delhi and Bengal. Triple mutation means that the three different strains of the corona virus have combined and changed into a new variant. According to a report by CNBC, the World Health Organization (WHO) believes that triple mutants of corona virus in India have become a threat not only here but to global health. Questions are also arising in people’s minds about how effective the vaccine is on this mutant of the virus.
B.1.617 more dangerous than before
Maria Van Kerkhov, WHO’s technical head for COVID-19, said that the new variant of Corona in India, B.1.617, is more dangerous than before. It has been observed in the study that it spreads more easily than before. In some cases it has also been seen that it has also been able to avoid the protection provided by the vaccine. He said that we are classifying this variant as Global Health Risk. However, the dose of corona vaccine is still considered effective on this. But the agency will release its weekly report in this regard on Tuesday, in which the situation will be more clear.
Is the vaccine effective on triple mutants
In the past too, scientists had said that only the study of how deadly or contagious the triple mutant variant of the corona virus is will be available. But it was found in the study that this variant is not only spreading rapidly, but it is also catching children. It was also said in some reports that it is difficult to say which vaccine will work on it and which is not. However, out of the three variants of the virus that made this triple mutant, two variants were able to dodge the antibodies. Therefore, scientists believe that even triple mutants will have some ability to dodge the naturally occurring immune system against the corona virus in the body.
Study of 10 variants
The WHO says the agency was following at least 10 coronavirus variants worldwide, including B.1.617. Van Kerakhov stated that the variant was previously described as a “variant of interest” because more studies were needed to fully understand its importance. He said that at the moment we need to ensure that we take all measures to protect ourselves from getting sick.
Claim: The vaccine is not resistant to the variant
In an interview to CNBC-TV18, WHO Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said that the reason behind the sudden corona explosion in India is its new variant B.1.617 which is very contagious and fatal. But he also said that vaccination is the only way to avoid it. He said that this variant is not resistant to vaccine. Swaminathan said that this variant is so dangerous that it also stops making antibodies in the body and mutates very fast. Swaminathan said that not only the new variants of Corona can be held responsible for the rising cases of infection and death in India, but also the negligence of the people is responsible for this. People did not take care of physical distance, but also stopped wearing masks.
