Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information by tweeting. Johnson & Johnson had sought approval for the emergency use of its single-dose vaccine on Friday itself. In this way it has become the fourth vaccine available in India. The special thing is that this vaccine of Johnson & Johnson is the first single dose vaccine, which will be used in India.

At present, three corona vaccines are being used in India. These are – Covaxin, Kovishield and the Russian vaccine Sputnik-V. Vaccination is being done in the country with the help of these three vaccines. Covaccine, Covishield and Sputnik-V, all three are double-dose vaccines. So far, more than 50 crore doses of corona vaccine have been given in the country.

Johnson & Johnson said on Monday that it is committed to bringing its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine to India. He is hopeful that it will be approved soon. He is in talks with the Government of India in this regard. A company spokesperson said in a statement, “Johnson & Johnson Pvt Ltd applied for the EUA of its single dose COVID-19 vaccine to the Government of India on 5 August 2021. This vaccine is a non-replicating viral vector vaccine, that is, the genetic material inside the vaccine will not copy itself inside the body. The vaccine can be stored between 2 to 8 degree temperature. The opened vial can be kept safe between 9 degree to 25 degree temperature for 12 hours. This vaccine will give further impetus to vaccination in India.
