The Congo’s Ministry of Communications and Media said in a tweet that the volcano erupted in the northern part of Mount Nyiragongo, but its intensity was extremely low.
The city of Congo, which has seen the scene of destruction due to volcano eruption in the past, once again got shaken by the eruption of a volcano. However, the intensity of this explosion was less. The government gave information about this and said that Mount Nyiragongo volcano located near Goma town in eastern Congo was reactivated on Saturday.
The Congo’s Ministry of Communications and Media gave information about the volcanic eruption on Twitter. The tweet said that there was an eruption in the northern part of the volcano Mount Niragongo but its intensity was very low. It was told in the tweet that the lava emanating from the volcano is flowing in a barren area under Virunga Park.
32 people died in the last blast
Explain that there are two active volcanoes in the Goma city of Congo, named after Niiragongo and Niayamulagira. Goma is the capital of North Eastern Province North Kivu. The Niiragongo volcano erupted on 22 May, killing 32 people. The lava emanating from the volcano had swept the homes of people, in which more than 500 houses were destroyed.
According to Celestin Kasereka Mahinda, director of the Flavonic Observatory in Goma, many people were killed due to smog and toxic gas coming out of the lava. He said that scientists could not properly warn the local people about this natural disaster. For this reason many people had to lose their lives.
The volcano erupted in 2002
The volcano last erupted in 2002, killing hundreds of people here and lava reaching all the airport’s runways. A picture of the city after the volcano erupted was tweeted by the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. He had said that he is keeping an eye on the area through his planes.
