Pune: 5 laborers died in an accident due to the fall of a thick iron mesh installed for laying the slab in the Under Construction Building. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune district Ajit Pawar have condoled the incident that took place in Yerwada area of Pune last night. Financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for the families of the laborers killed in the accident. Along with this, instructions have been given to the administration to provide better treatment to the injured laborers.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has condoled the incident. He directed the officials to ensure that the injured get proper treatment and necessary assistance is provided to the families of the dead and injured. Precautionary measures should be taken to prevent loss of life and property in construction of buildings as well as other workplaces. The Chief Minister has also appealed to the concerned agencies to be vigilant in this regard. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has paid tribute to the five workers who lost their lives in this accident. The Deputy Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased workers and the Deputy Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased. Taking cognizance of the accident, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed to take care to continue the treatment of other injured workers smoothly. He also made it clear that to prevent the recurrence of accidents due to falling slabs of the building, the faults would be rectified by ascertaining the cause of the accident and strict action would be taken against the culprits.
10-member committee constituted for investigation
On the other hand, after the accident in the under-construction building of Bluegrass Business Park Company in Shastri Nagar of Yerwada campus, the Pune Municipal Administration has issued a notice of stop work. Along with this, a 10-member committee has been constituted to investigate the incident. This information has been given by the Superintendent Engineer, Municipal Corporation, Sudhir Kadam. In this committee, Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh (District Magistrate, Pune- President), Rohidas Pawar (Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-4-Member), Abhijit Ketkar (Assistant Director, Municipality-Member), Atul Chavan (Superintendent Engineer-Member), Public Works Department- Member), Sunil Gilbile (Chief Fire Officer, Pune Municipal Corporation – Member), Abhay Gitte (Deputy Commissioner, Labor Welfare Department – Member), Dhairyasheel Khaire Patil (Structural Engineer – Member), Sandeep Wavdekar (Architect – Member), Sanjay Deshpande (Member).
