    A bunch of local weather activists with Extinction Rebellion Boston had been arrested on the State House Wednesday afternoon after they staged a sit-in within the House Gallery for over six hours.

    The group tried to disrupt a quick joint session of the Constitutional Convention, a sometimes minutes-long affair the House and Senate maintain each few months to contemplate amendments to the state Constitution. Lawmakers had been already on their method out by the point the protestors tried to unfurl a banner within the chamber.

    Protestors gathered on the fourth ground public viewing gallery for the House chamber, saying they might not budge until legislative management launched payments inserting a moratorium on new fossil gasoline infrastructure initiatives at the moment being constructed or proposed.

    “The commonwealth has the ability to be a national leader during the rapid transition away from fossil fuels to green renewable energy,” the group stated in a press release. “We should stop investing rate-payer money in fossil fuel infrastructure that will need to be abandoned before its full useful life.”

    Neither House Speaker Ronald Mariano nor Senate President Karen Spilka filed payments on the subject Wednesday.

    The group contained in the House Gallery had been knowledgeable the State House was closed to the general public shortly after 5 p.m. and got the choice to depart. None did, and police arrested them shortly after.

    A spokesperson for the state police stated regulation enforcement arrested 5 male and three feminine protestors after the group refused to depart the House Chamber.

    Members of Extinction Rebellion Boston had been arrested in February after they staged a sit-in contained in the foyer of Gov. Maura Healey’s State House workplace.
