Bhiwandi : Municipal commissioner Sudhakar Deshmukh has taken serious cognizance after repeated complaints about the only Varala Devi pond in Bhiwandi city being polluted. Varala Devi Pond Cleanliness Campaign has been started with the help of Poklen machines, due to which the residents are happy. Municipal commissioner Sudhakar Deshmukh, city engineer Laxman Gaikwad, expert professor Dr. Kakvipure, pollution department head Nitesh Chaudhary were present on the said occasion.
It may be mentioned that Varala Devi pond, which provides drinking water to the citizens of the city, about 2 MLD has become polluted. The color of the pond has turned green because of the dirt all around. The dirty sewerage water comes from the surrounding areas in the pond. Children are often seen bathing, washing clothes, defecating and washing vehicles on the banks of the pond. For about two years, all the aware citizens living in the surrounding area have expressed their serious concern to the Municipal Administration regarding the cleanliness and water purification of Varala Devi pond. Local BJP public representatives Shyam Agarwal, Nilesh Chaudhary, social worker Dinesh Patil, corporator Deepali Patil, Ashok Patil, Sandesh Patil, Prasad Patil etc. have repeatedly appealed to the Municipal Commissioner Sudhakar Deshmukh to clean the pond and purify the polluted water.
