Nand Kumar Baghel, father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Singh Baghel, was arrested by the Raipur Police from Agra on Tuesday. He was produced in the district court, from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Baghel, 84, is accused of making rhetoric against Brahmins. A case was registered against him at DD Nagar police station in Raipur. Nandkumar Baghel is accused of calling Brahmins foreigners and appealed to drive them out of the country. After this alleged statement, the UP Sarva Brahmin Samaj lodged an FIR against him. Chief Minister Baghel had said that he would be arrested if his father gave this statement. Rarely has it happened before in the history of the country when the father of the present CM of a state has been arrested like this.
Bhupesh Baghel had said, action will be taken against the father
After the FIR was registered, CM Bhupesh Baghel had said that it is my responsibility as the Chief Minister to maintain social harmony in the society. If anyone tries to break it, then legal action will be taken against him. If my father has said this thing against any society, then I feel sorry for him. This kind of thing should not be done. Action will be taken against them.
Electoral Bonds: Political parties received 3400 crore donations in FY20, 87.29% to only four parties, 7 times more donations to BJP than Congress
UP’s electoral politics game?
The political meaning of this arrest of Nand Kumar Baghel is also being extracted. It is being said that the Congress does not want to anger the Brahmin voters in UP. Therefore, the pressure on Bhupesh Kumar Baghel to arrest his father had increased. Apart from this, the lobby of TS Dev and Brahmin leaders in Chhattisgarh also put heavy pressure on the Chief Minister.
Recently Bhupesh Singh Baghel met the top leadership of the Congress. It was being said that TS Dev was adamant on the formula for the post of CM for two and a half years. Discussions of change of leadership are going on fast in the state, but officially everything is being said from both the factions. Experts say that the dispute between these two camps started from the very day when the command of the state was handed over to Bhupesh Baghel. However, for the time being the top leadership has reposed faith in the leadership of Bhupesh Baghel.
