Along with this, BJP suffered a major setback in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections when Damanpreet Singh of Aam Aadmi Party won from Ward No. 17. Damanpreet has defeated BJP candidate and sitting mayor Ravikant Sharma.
BJP’s condition is bad, so far only one seat
Where on one hand the Aam Aadmi Party has so far registered its victory from many big wards. So the condition of the ruling BJP in the municipal corporation seems to be deteriorating. So far, only Kanwarjit Singh Rana has won from the party’s ward number 33.
Significantly, this time 60% voting was done in the municipal elections. Yes, this time a total of 6 lakh 33 thousand 475 voters had voted. Let me tell you, this is only a little more than the last election. Before this, 59 in the 2016 election. 5% of the voters had cast their vote. It is to be known that in the year 2016, there were a total of 26 wards in Chandigarh. But now these have now been increased to 35.
