In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and concerns over the impact of electronics gadgets, connectivity and online learning, the Central Board of Secondary Education on Monday released the Special Assessment Scheme for the session 2021-22. As per the notified scheme, the session has been divided into two terms, with about 50 per cent syllabus in each term. The board will conduct the examination at the end of each term on the basis of the syllabus divided. The first term exam will be held in November-December and the second term exam will be held in March-April.
CBSE said that this has been done to increase the chances of conducting class 10th and 12th examinations at the end of the academic session.
It further states that the schools will be informed in July 2021 about the reduced syllabus for the board exams 2021-22. The Board emphasized that work is being done to improve the internal assessment, practical and project work. The board will also issue guidelines for internal assessment for all subjects for the 2021-21 session. According to the board, it will also provide additional resources to make the internal assessment more reliable.
CBSE said that most of the government and private independent schools had appealed to reduce the syllabus. These schools had said that it is important to reduce the syllabus as they do not have enough time to conduct online classes.
Exam Pattern

The duration of the test will be 90 minutes and it will cover only Term 1 syllabus (which will be 50% of the entire syllabus).
