Caste-based Census: A team of ten members from Bihar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 23 for the caste census. Apart from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rajv leader Tejashwi Yadav and representatives of other parties were involved in this party. Not only JDU and RJD party leaders met PM Modi regarding the enumeration of all castes (caste census) across the country, but BJP leaders were also involved in it. These leaders have requested Prime Minister Modi for a census on the basis of castes across the country.

After the meeting, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told that PM Modi patiently listened to him. When asked Nitish Kumar what was PM Modi’s stand on the caste census, he replied that PM Modi has not denied it and Prime Minister Modi has listened to everyone. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the whole country has an opinion on this issue and now PM Modi has to take a decision on it.

Counting of animals and trees is also possible for people
According to the Chief Minister of Bihar, the caste census will help in effective implementation of various development schemes and it will prove to be a historic step in helping the poor. Nitish Kumar said that when animals and trees can be counted, then people can also be counted. On the question of JD(U) and RJD coming together on this issue, he said that the opposition party in Bihar has always supported the government on the issue of welfare of the people and national interest.
