Mumbai: In view of the increasing infection of Corona in Mumbai, the Railways has intensified the campaign against those traveling without masks. Action is being taken against passengers not wearing masks on trains and platforms as per government guidelines. It was told that in a single day, 256 persons without masks have been punished on Central Railway and Rs 44,900/- has been recovered from them as fine.
So far in the month of January, 2508 persons were found not wearing masks and a fine of Rs 4.45 lakh was collected from them. It is noteworthy that in the midst of the third wave of Corona, stations and locals are getting crowded. Similarly, in collaboration with BMC, the campaign is also being run at the railway stations of Mumbai. Action has also been taken against 267 people on Western Railway.

According to the guidelines issued by the state government, this campaign has been started from April 17 last year against passengers not wearing masks. A total of 30,575 passengers have been apprehended by special teams of ticket checking personnel on Central Railway for not wearing masks/face covers as per the COVID-19 guidelines and fined more than Rs.51 lakhs from them.
Division wise penalty
On Central Railway, division-wise, passengers not wearing masks/face covers were apprehended. Mumbai Division 3,143 cases and 6.18 lakh fines collected. Bhusaval Mandal 14,046 cases and Rs 16.41 lakh fine. Nagpur division has 7,924 cases and Rs 15.84 lakh fine, Solapur division 2,404 cases and Rs 5.20 lakh fine and Pune division 2,858 cases and Rs 6.57 lakh fine.
