Mumbai: A case of a Mumbai builder getting threats from the underworld has come to light. A demand of Rs 2 crore a week has been made from gangster Ravi Pujari as a member of the gang. The Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police has arrested an accused from Bangalore. Police is probing his criminal record.
A builder in Mumbai was getting threats over the phone. The person who threatened her was claiming to be a member of Ravi Pujari gang. At first the builder did not pay heed to his threat. Later, when he started receiving more threatening calls, he complained to the Crime Branch. When the cyber cell of Mumbai Police traced that phone call, it was found that the call threatening the builder was coming from Bangalore.

A team of cyber cell went to Bangalore and traced there and arrested Mahesh Pujari (33). The police have seized mobile, laptop and diary from him. During the interrogation of the police, Mahesh Pujari has revealed that he is associated with gangster Ravi Pujari’s gang. Police is looking for his criminal record.

Gangster Ravi Pujari is in jail. Originally from Udupi, Karnataka, Pujari used to run a racket of extortion from abroad, targeting businessmen, film personalities etc. There are many cases registered against Ravi Pujari including murder, murder charges, extortion of money in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. He was arrested in February 2020 from Senegal, West Africa. He was later extradited to India.
