Mumbai: Government BMC employees are exempted from making biometric attendance till 31 January 2022. The BMC Employees Union Coordination Committee had threatened the administration to agitate on the issue. Even after this, the BMC administration is adamant about the biomatic presence since January 1.
The General Administration Department of BMC has ordered all the department heads to immediately activate the biometric machine and register attendance through the biometric system.

The General Administration Department had issued a circular on November 2021, directing to record biometric attendance from January 1, 2022. For this, he had instructed every department and department to install biometric machines. Meanwhile, in view of the increasing number of patients in the third wave, trade unions demanded immediate cancellation of biometric attendance, following which the government postponed the registration of biometric attendance till January 31. Therefore, the General Administration had prepared two drafts for an adjournment first till January 17, 2022 and then till January 31, 2022. BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal did not sign it due to opposition from the health department.

Apart from this, on January 19, BSM has issued a new circular making it mandatory to record biometric attendance. The concerned head of establishment / department head has been ordered to activate the biometric machines immediately and register attendance through the biometric system.
