The excitement of the mega auction of IPL 2022, the upcoming season of IPL, the Mahakumbh of league cricket, has intensified. Meanwhile, the latest news has also come about the auction dates. According to information received from a BCCI official, according to the earlier plan, the auction was to be held by the first week of January, but now the date of the MGA auction can be extended till the fourth week of January.
The source said, “We are still waiting for the decision of the specially appointed committee on the ownership of CVC Capital of the new teams Ahmedabad team for IPL 2022. Until a decision is taken on this, the date of action will not be finalised.”
According to ‘Inside Sports’, the BCCI had informally said that the mega auction will be held in the first week of January. But due to the delay in the decision related to the issues related to the Ahmedabad team (Ahmedabad IPL Franchise Team), the auction may get extended till the last week of January 2022.
New teams will also have to give window
An official associated with the BCCIA said, “Apart from this, we also have to give a reasonable window to both the new teams in Lucknow (Lucknow Team IPL) and Ahmedabad (Ahmedabad IPL Team) to choose their 3-3 players before the mega auction. That’s why we don’t think the auction will happen before the third or fourth week of January.”
It is worth noting that the old 8 teams of IPL had submitted the list of their respective retained players to the BCCI by 30 November. The current 8 teams of IPL have retained a total of 27 players. The special thing has also been seen that many famous players were not retained and now they have come in the mega auction.
