The Bandar Heera Project is the first of its kind greenfield diamond mining project. It has the potential to become one of the largest diamond mines in the Asian region which will eventually put the state of Madhya Pradesh on the global map. Bandar Diamond will generate profit, employment opportunities and a new economy for Bundelkhandis.
14 out of 15 diamonds from around the world are cut and polished in India. And mostly this business is done in Surat, Gujarat. With the Bandar Heera Project, the state government can generate employment for thousands of youths around the Bundelkhand region. Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh can surpass Surat in Gujarat in terms of its ability to skill and train its youth for the diamond polishing industry.
On the other hand, Khajuraho located in Chhatarpur district is already in the list of iconic global destinations and the state government is already contemplating to start a new diamond auction center in Khajuraho, which will give Khajuraho a new look. Recently, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in the annual review of the state’s mineral department that mineral sources are important for employment and revenue for the state.
2022 is the year of a new beginning
Youth have suffered the most during this pandemic due to unemployment and social restrictions. On the occasion of National Youth Day, thinkers and policy analysts should focus on the hurdles posed by the pandemic, addressing the critical challenges of young Indians and trying to solve them. With the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project getting the green signal and the Bandar Diamond Project bringing new prosperity to Bundelkhand, 2022 could be a year of new beginnings for Madhya Pradesh and bring a ray of hope to the youth of the region.
