China has made a colony in Balochistan, everyone knows this. But now he has done something here that is at least completely against the ‘new Pakistan’ of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. For the first time, a Chinese liquor company has set up a beer factory in Balochistan. With this, now production of Chinese beer has started in Balochistan. This Chinese company was licensed in the year 2018. Now after three years, the production of beer has started formally. This has been confirmed in some reports in the Pakistani media on Wednesday.
Chinese company started production
This is the first time China has set up a liquor factory in an Islamic country like Pakistan. Chinese company Hui Kostal Brewery and Distillery Limited has opened its new factory in Balochistan. This company is known for some of the world’s famous alcohol brands. The beer produced here will be supplied to those Chinese citizens who are working on projects in China at different places in Pakistan. An official of Pakistan’s provincial excise and taxation department has told the Dawn newspaper that in 2017, a license was applied for on behalf of the company.
Chinese citizens will be supplied beer
The Chinese company had registered itself with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on 30 April 2020. By then the company had installed its plant in Balochistan. Mohammed Zaman, director general of the Excise and Taxation Department, said, “The company has formally started production of beer last week. These beers will be supplied to Chinese citizens who are working on separate projects on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Balochistan Mines and Mineral Projects.
Liquor brands will be launched in Pakistan
This Chinese company, which is famous worldwide, is preparing to launch two of its brands in Pakistan soon. The company has its first plant in Lasbella, Balochistan. This place is a costal district and is quite special for China. Costal Brewery and Distillery Limited of China has installed this plant in a 5-acre plot. It is being told that an investment of 30 lakh rupees has been made by the company.
Freedom to drink only non-Muslims
Currently hundreds of Chinese workers and engineers are working in Pakistan for some more Chinese projects including CPEC. The CPEC, a $ 50 billion dream project, is being planned to connect the Guadar Port of Pakistan with China’s Xinjiang. Chinese liquor company started production of beer in Pakistan, but surprisingly, alcohol is banned in this country for Muslims. Only non-Muslims can drink alcohol and their population is less than 5 percent.
Why the Balochistan’s Lasbella
China chose Lasbella of Balochistan for this because it is the place where China has invested the most after Gwadar. This place is just 5 hours away from Gwadar. In 2014, an oil refinery was built here which has the capacity to process 120,000 barrels of oil. Apart from this, there is also a power plant generating power of 1350 MV.
It is said that Chinese money is invested in both of them. In addition, 60 percent of the population of Lasbella is forced to live in poverty. Only 22 percent of the people here are literate. In such a situation, China can easily get all the resources it needs from affordable labor to its beer plant here.
