West Bengal’s Asansol MP and BJP leader Babul Supriyo, who was a minister at the Center, joined the Trinamool Congress on Saturday. He had announced his retirement from politics after being removed from the post of minister at the Center a month ago. After this he left BJP. But Supriyo joined the Trinamool Congress in Kolkata on Saturday in the presence of Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien.

Supriyo said for a month, I am leaving politics
Supriyo had resigned as a minister last month ahead of the change in the Union Cabinet. After that he had announced to leave politics. Supriyo had said that before the elections in West Bengal, he had deep differences with BJP leaders. This internal battle of BJP leaders was weakening the party. In his initial Facebook post, he had written that he had no intention of joining the Trinamool Congress. However, he later removed this line.
