Assembly Elections 2022: In the third phase of voting, voting is going on in 59 constituencies of 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh today. On the other hand, voting continues in Congress-ruled Punjab too (Punjab Election 2022 Voting). Voting in UP began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Voting in Punjab will be held from 8 am to 6 pm.

In Uttar Pradesh, all eyes will be on the Karhal seat of Mainpuri, the stronghold of the Yadav family, from where Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting his first assembly election. BJP has fielded Union Minister SP Singh Baghel against him. The SP has lost from this seat only once since the party’s inception in 1992.
2- In the 2017 assembly elections, BJP got 49 seats out of these 59 seats, while Samajwadi Party got nine seats. Congress won one seat and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) lost all seats. The seats where voting is being held today are in the western, central and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh.

8- In the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, the Congress ended the 10-year rule of the SAD-BJP alliance by winning 77 seats. AAP was successful in winning 20 seats, while SAD-BJP won 18 seats. Lok Insaaf Party got two seats.
9- While the Congress is trying to hold on to Punjab, the BJP is contesting without its long-time ally Akali Dal, the seed of a multi-cornered contest.
