New Delhi: Days after 20 YouTube channels and two websites were blocked for spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday warned that the government is “conspiracy” against the country. “Such action will continue against those.
Responding to questions on the issue, Thakur told reporters here, “I had ordered action against him. … I am glad that many big countries around the world have taken cognizance of this. YouTube also came forward and took action to block them. In December last year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a coordinated effort with intelligence agencies, ordered the blocking of 20 YouTube channels and two websites for spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news.

“And in future also, action will be taken against India to block any such account of conspiracy, spreading lies and dividing the society,” the minister said. “These 20 YouTube channels and websites belong to a coordinated propaganda network operating out of Pakistan and were spreading fake news about various sensitive topics related to India,” the ministry said in a statement in December.
It had said that these channels were being used to post divisive content in a coordinated manner on topics like “Kashmir, Indian Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat etc”. (agency)
