Rae Bareli: Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, comparing the case of farmers being attacked in Tikonia village of Lakhimpur Kheri with the Jallianwala Bagh incident, said on Saturday that The British had shot from the front but BJP people came from behind and mounted the jeep.
Yadav, who reached Rae Bareli with the Samajwadi Vijay Rath Yatra, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be wiped out in the upcoming assembly elections. Talking to reporters here, Yadav said, “The incident in Uttar Pradesh, in which farmers were crushed by a jeep, if compared to it, looking back at the history of India, one remembers Jallianwala Bagh when the British fired from the front.” But the BJP came from behind and mounted a jeep on the farmers. He said, “The investigation report is out today but no action has been taken against the guilty people yet. The Union Minister of State for Home has not been sacked, who has been accused of not being bulldozed at his house. This government is working with discrimination.”

Significantly, on October 3, eight people, including four farmers and a journalist, were killed in the violence that broke out during the protests in Lakhimpur Kheri. In this case, more than a dozen people, including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni, have been made accused and all are lodged in the district jail. The SP President said that as soon as the elections are near, BJP puts on religious glasses and starts seeing everything through that glasses. But the people of Uttar Pradesh are ready to wipe out BJP from the state this time.
Yadav once again said, “Daktika (problems), ‘Killat’ (deficiency) and ‘Jillat’ (disgrace) have never happened in any government, as it is happening in this government. Today, people are feeling humiliated. The BJP people in power are insulting the people.” Yadav is on a tour of Rae Bareli and surrounding areas from Samajwadi Vijay Rath since Friday.
