The spread of advanced weapons and latest night vision devices left by the Americans in Afghanistan after the capture of Kabul in August 2021 is now moving through the Line of Control (LOC) through Pakistan, towards the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. According to CNN-News18, this information was given by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 19 Infantry Division Major General Ajay Chandpuria posted in Baramulla in North Kashmir during a special conversation with the journalist.
The 19 Infantry Division under the 15th Chinar Corps oversees the counter-insurgency grid and security preparedness along some important areas of the Line of Control with Pakistan in North Kashmir.
Major General Chandpuria says, “The situation in Afghanistan has had a profound impact on the security situation in our country and especially in Jammu and Kashmir. It is no secret that various terrorist groups fighting the Americans in Afghanistan are now dormant.”
He added, “Along with this, there are thousands of modern weapons, night vision devices and other modern devices, which were released by the Americans. According to reports, a lot of it is moving towards Pakistan and some part of it is moving towards the Line of Control (LoC). LoC) has reached.”
According to reports, after the capture of Kabul, many militants lodged in Afghan prisons were released by the Taliban and the Haqqani network and deported to freedom in Pakistan.
Many of those veteran fighters of Jaish-e-Muhammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba and other terror groups have reached several camps and launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
In the past year, a ceasefire has been achieved between India and Pakistan, which restricts the “cover” fire usually given by Pakistani troops to make possible terrorist infiltration into India through the Line of Control.
Major General Ajay Chandpuria said, “As per our inputs, we are at the peak of winter with a lot of snow, which really restricts infiltration attempts here and since the understanding of ceasefire for the past one year, we have 6 More such infiltration attempts are being made, which were neutralized.”
He says, “At any given time we have about 100 to 130 terrorists who are believed to have been on the launch pad in front of our territory. Infiltration attempts have been neutralized, we have modern American assault. Rifles, modern generation thermal imaging night vision devices and similar devices have been recovered.
While 2021 has been mostly peaceful along the LoC, there are apprehensions following fresh recovery and several agency reports that have indicated an increase in activities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, suggesting possible infiltration plans for the summer of 2022.
Major General Ajay Chandpuria confirmed, “I think the apprehension of fighters operating in Afghanistan from these terrorist groups with modern weapons and equipment will certainly exist along the Line of Control and try to infiltrate in the coming summer. “
The terror graph in the Valley was on a downward trend as a result of the terrible peace in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5 August 2019.
The latest inputs about veteran fighters of the Afghan war reaching the Line of Control to infiltrate India, however, is a serious development in the wake of Pakistan’s efforts to internationalize Kashmir again after several recent defeats.
