Cyclone Burevi: After the recent rescue cyclone, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are now facing the threat of new cyclonic storm Buryavi. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Southern Tamil Nadu and Southern Kerala for 3 December regarding the Burevi Cyclone. Red alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts. The Cyclone Warning Division of the department had said on Tuesday that the Buravi Cyclone could hit Tamil Nadu on December 4.
The India Meteorological Department has said in a bulletin that after reaching Sri Lanka’s Trincomalee, there is a possibility of Buryavi coming towards the Comorin area around the Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. The department said that after that it will move west-southwest and cross the South Tamil Nadu coast between Kanyakumari and Pamban on the morning of December 4.
8 teams of NDRF reached Kerala
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that in view of Cyclone Burwi, 697 people from 175 families have been sent to relief camps. 2489 other camps have been identified. 8 NDRF teams have reached the state. Airforce and Navy are ready for rescue and relief operations.
PM assured of all possible help
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Wednesday. He discussed the situation in many parts of these states due to ‘Burevi’. Prime Minister of Tamil Nadu K.M. Palaniswami and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have been assured of all possible help from the Center. The PM said in the tweet that I wish for the safety of the people living in the affected areas.
