Conscious citizens of the city are complaining about this and the evidence of this business has spread through social media. When public action is expected from the police administration, then the complainants are put under pressure. This is a way to tarnish the image of an educated city like Thane. After the complaint, action was taken at one or two places and business resumed. However, MLA Kelkar said that the written statement given by Thane Police is misleading and false.
MLA Kelkar had written a letter to Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, demanding action against these illegal businessmen and the role of the police. The Home Minister has directed the Home Secretary to submit a report in this regard.
